![]() The Cross Country Chocolate Connection was the created with the collaboration of Keith Becki of Holland Haven Rabbitry, Michigan and Christina Topf of The Rabbit Hill, California, in an effort to produce some of the highest quality chocolate variety Holland Lops in the country. Christina first suggested the idea to Keith in early 2004, when she discovered the phenomenal offspring produced from the mating of her herd buck Rabbit Hill’s Sushi (black otter buck) and a brood doe she had purchased from another breeder-Holland Haven’s Merlot (lilac doe). After seeing the pictures of the resultant offspring, Keith enthusiastically agreed, and the impetus for the CCCC was born. The CCCC is a chocolate variety “rabbit swap” between the Rabbit Hill and Holland Haven Rabbitry. Each rabbitry will ship 3 rabbits to the other, and will get those rabbits back after period of 6 months to one year. This will allow both breeders to breed to improve the type on their chocolate varieties with careful linebreeding for type, first and foremost. Though the rabbits will keep their respective rabbitry prefixes, look for a definite meshing of Holland Haven and Rabbit Hill lines on our pedigrees in the near future! Keith is currently focusing on breeding chocolate carrier otters & chocolate otters and Christina is working on the TRUE lynx & the chocolate agouti color.
